Introduction (પરિચય)

Nursing health care system માં એક very important and respected profession છે. Nursing નો main aim care of sick patient, prevention of disease, promotion of health અને rehabilitation છે.

Nursing એટલે scientific knowledge, technical skill અને caring attitude નો ઉપયોગ કરીને patient ની holistic care કરવી.

Nurse hospital, community, clinic, school, industry, rehabilitation center જેવી જગ્યાએ health care services આપે છે.

Example:Hospital માં nurse,injection આપે

BP, pulse, temperature ચેક કરવું,wound dressing કરવુ,‌medicines administer કરે,patient ને emotional support આપવો,આ બધું nursing care કહેવાય છે.

Meaning of Profession

Profession એટલે એવું occupation કે જેમાં specialized education, training, knowledge અને skill જરૂરી હોય અને જે society ને service આપે.

Profession માટે નીચેના elements જરૂરી હોય છે:

specialized education

scientific knowledge

ethical standards

professional responsibility

service to society

Meaning of Nursing

Word Nurse Latin word “Nutrix” માંથી આવેલ છે, જેનો meaning to nourish, nurture or care થાય છે.

Definition:

Nursing is the art and science of caring for individuals, families and communities to maintain health, prevent disease and promote recovery.

Nursing એટલે knowledge + skill + compassion થી patient ની care કરવી.

Why Nursing is Called a Profession?

Nursing ને profession કહેવામાં આવે છે કારણ કે તેમાં profession ના essential characteristics જોવા મળે છે.

1. Specialized Education

દરેક profession માટે formal education અને specialized training જરૂરી હોય છે.

Nursing profession માં nurse બનવા માટે professional course complete કરવો પડે છે.

GNM course

B.Sc Nursing

-Education દરમિયાન students theoretical knowledge,practical skills,clinical experience

બધું શીખે છે.

-Special education nurse ને competent professional બનાવે છે.

2.Body of Knowledge

દરેક profession પાસે પોતાનું organized scientific knowledge હોય છે.Nursing knowledge medical science અને behavioral science બંને પરથી બને છે.

Example: Anatomy&Physiology,Microbiology,

Pharmacology,Psychology,Nutritionઆ knowledge nurse ને patient condition સમજવામાં

proper nursing care plan બનાવવામાં મદદ કરે છે.

Knowledge continuously research અને education દ્વારા update થાય છે.

3. Service to Society

Profession નો main aim society ને useful service આપવો છે.

Nursing profession society માટે ખૂબ મહત્વપૂર્ણ છે કારણ કે nurses લોકોના health care needs પૂરા કરે છે.

Nurse society માટે patient care,disease prevention,health education આપવું તેમજ‌ community health programs માં ભાગ લઈને જરૂરી સેવાઓ પૂરી પાડે છે.

Community health nurse village‌ માં immunization awareness આપે છે તથા maternal health education આપે છે.

4.Code of Ethics

-Profession માટે ethical principles અને professional standards હોય છે.

-Ethics એટલે right and wrong behavior ના moral principles.

Nurses માટે ethical responsibilities:

patient dignity respect કરવી

patient confidentiality maintain કરવી

honesty અને sincerity રાખવી

discrimination વગર care આપવી

Example:

-Patient ની personal information unauthorized person ને disclose ન કરવી.

-Ethical practice nurse ને trustworthy professional બનાવે છે.

5. Professional Organization

-દરેક profession માટે professional organizations અથવા regulatory bodies હોય છે.

-આ organizations profession ના standards maintain કરે છે.

Nursing field માં important organizations:

(૧)Indian Nursing Council (INC)

(૨)State Nursing Council

(૩)Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI)

-આ organizations nursing education regulate કરે છે.

-professional standards maintain કરે છે.

-nurse registration અને licensing manage કરે છે‌.

6. Autonomy

-Autonomy એટલે independent professional judgement and decision making ability.

-Professional nurse પોતાની knowledge અને clinical experience નો ઉપયોગ કરીને patient care માટે decisions લે છે.

Example:

-Nurse એ patient condition observe કરે છે.

emergency situation માં immediate nursing care આપે છે.

-doctor ને proper report કરવા.

-Autonomy nursing profession ની professional independence દર્શાવે છે.

7. Research and Development

-Professional field માં research activities knowledge improve કરે છે.

-Nursing research દ્વારા new nursing practices develop થાય છે.

-patient care quality improve થાય છે.

-hospital infection control improve થાય છે.

-Research થી infection prevention techniques improve થઈ શકે છે.

-Research nursing profession ને scientific profession બનાવે છે.

8. Accountability

-Professional nurse પોતાની actions માટે responsible અને accountable હોય છે.

-Accountability એટલે nurse પોતાની duty અને decisions માટે answerable હોય છે.

Qualities of a Nurse

1.Sympathy and Compassion

Nurse પાસે sympathy (સહાનુભૂતિ) અને compassion (દયા) હોવી જોઈએ. Nurse patient ની pain, suffering અને problems સમજવાની અને emotional support આપવાની ability રાખવી જોઈએ.

2. Patience

Nursing profession માં patience (ધીરજ) ખૂબ જરૂરી છે. ઘણા patients anxious, fearful અથવા irritate હોઈ શકે છે.

Nurse calm attitude રાખીને patient ને સમજાવી શકે તે જરૂરી છે.

3. Honesty and Integrity

Nurse honest અને trustworthy હોવી જોઈએ. Patient care, medication administration અને documentation માં honesty maintain કરવી જરૂરી છે.

4. Responsibility and Accountability

Professional nurse પોતાની duty માટે responsible અને accountable હોવી જોઈએ.

5. Good Communication Skill

Nurse પાસે good communication skill હોવી જોઈએ જેથી patient, family અને health care team સાથે proper interaction થઈ શકે.

6. Observation Skill

Nurse પાસે good observation skill હોવી જોઈએ જેથી patient condition માં small changes પણ detect કરી શકાય.

7. Emotional Stability

Nurse ને stressful situations handle કરવાની ability હોવી જોઈએ. Hospital માં emergency cases, critical illness અને death situations જોવા મળે છે.

Emotional stability nurse ને calm અને professional રહેવામાં મદદ કરે છે.

8. Physical Fitness

Nursing profession physically demanding છે. Nurse ને long duty hours, patient lifting અને emergency work handle કરવા physically fit હોવું જરૂરી છે.

9. Intelligence and Critical Thinking

Nurse પાસે intelligence અને critical thinking ability હોવી જોઈએ જેથી patient condition analyze કરી proper nursing decision લઈ શકાય.

10. Tact and Courtesy

Nurse polite, respectful અને courteous હોવી જોઈએ. Good behavior patient confidence વધારવામાં મદદ કરે છે.

11. Dedication and Commitment

Nursing profession service oriented profession છે. Nurse patient care માટે dedicated અને committed હોવી જોઈએ.

12. Good Moral Character

Nurse પાસે good moral values હોવા જોઈએ જેમ કે honesty, discipline અને respect for others.

Good moral character nurse ને trustworthy professional બનાવે છે.

Functions of professional Nurse

(1)Patient Care

Patient care professional nurse નો primary function છે. Nurse patient ની physical, psychological અને emotional needs ધ્યાનમાં રાખીને holistic nursing care આપે છે.

Professional nurse patient ની condition observe કરે છે, patient safety maintain કરે છે અને treatment process દરમિયાન proper nursing interventions provide કરે છે.

Patient care દરમિયાન nurse comfort, hygiene, nutrition અને rest જેવી basic needs પણ ensure કરે છે.

2. Health Promotion

Health promotion nursing profession નો important function છે. Nurse individuals અને community માં healthy lifestyle develop કરવા માટે guidance આપે છે.

Health promotion activities દ્વારા લોકોમાં good health practices અને healthy behaviour develop થાય છે.

Nurse society માં health awareness increase કરવા માટે important contribution આપે છે.

3. Disease Prevention

Disease prevention nursing practice નો essential part છે. Professional nurse communicable અને non-communicable diseases prevent કરવા માટે preventive measures promote કરે છે.

Nurse infection control principles follow કરે છે અને community માં preventive health services strengthen કરવા માટે work કરે છે.

7. Communication

Communication nursing profession માં essential function છે. Professional nurse patient, family અને health care team વચ્ચે effective communication maintain કરે છે.
