🔅DEFINATION

It is due to hyper Secretion Triiodothyronine & tetraiodothyronine hormone it is characterize by increased basal metabolic rate of body


🔅CAUSES

  • Increase level of T.S.H

  • Tumor of thyroid gland

  • Tumor of pituitary gland

  • Grave's disease

  • Goiter disease

  • Thyroid inflammation


🔅 TYPE

  • on the basic of duration

(1) Acute : for few days

(2) Chronic : for long period


🔅CLINICAL MANIFESTATION


  • Weakness

  • Irregular heart beat

  • Difficulty sleeping

  • Itching

  • Hair loss

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Dizziness

  • Shortness of breath

  • Weight loss

  • Rapid pulse

  • Hypertension


🔅DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATIONS :


  • History Collection

  • Physics examination

  • Thyroid function test

  • Thyroid scan :CT scans ,MRI


🔅 MANAGEMENT

1. Medical Management 💊

  • Methimazole / Propylthiouracil – reduce thyroid hormone production

  • Propranolol – control symptoms like tachycardia and tremor

  • Radioactive iodine I-131 – destroys overactive thyroid tissue


2. Surgical Management 🏥

Thyroidectomy (partial or total removal of thyroid gland)


🔅 HEALTH EDUCATION


  • Take medicines regularly such as Methimazole or Propylthiouracil as prescribed. 💊

  • Regular check-up and thyroid function tests. 🧪

  • Avoid excess iodine foods (iodized salt, sea foods).

  • Take balanced diet with enough calories and vitamins. 🥗

  • Reduce stress and take adequate rest. 😴

  • Report symptoms like fever, sore throat, palpitations, or swelling immediately to doctor.

  • Avoid smoking and stimulants like excess tea or coffee. 🚭☕
