1. Definition
Steam inhalation is a therapeutic procedure in which warm moist air is inhaled to relieve respiratory congestion and improve airway clearance.
2. Purpose
To relieve nasal and chest congestion
To loosen thick secretions
To soothe inflamed respiratory mucosa
To improve breathing

6. Patient Preparation
Explain the procedure to the patient
Position patient in sitting position
Instruct patient to remove tight clothing

Prepare hot water and pour it carefully into a steam inhaler or bowl.
